Description

After I read this chapter [link]
I could not get rid of this image from my imagination.

"She drew a deep and shuddering breath; her soft voice was clear and not without strength when she spoke. "Lord, there is little I can say. Yes, I have done these things, and I... I willingly accept your judgment for my transgressions. But –" her breath caught in her throat, in a sob.

"But?" the god said, his voice emotionless.

"But, Lord, if I could... I would turn your hand from those who have followed me here. From Safiya and Okku, and... and Gann. They did not know what the consequences of their love and their loyalty would be. How could they? They are Faithless, and Okku is unfamiliar with your ways. I beg you to spare them – or if your justice demands a price for their actions, let it fall upon me."

No... the cry was torn from his throat and strangled into an indistinguishable sound by the weight of Kelemvor's presence and the simultaneous and equally unintelligible protests of Okku and Safiya..."

Kelemvor.....One of the most gray gods in any pantheon ever. After playing as one of Kelemvor's faithful myself, I still have no idea where I stand with him. Even when playing as a worshiper of him. On the one hand, I hate that he doesn't do anything about the wall of the faithless, despite knowing it's an abomination. And yet, I also feel bad that he was shackled with the responsibility of being the watcher and maintainer of said abomination when it was Myrkul who created the damn thing in the first place. It was a responsibility he never wanted and never liked, but being the lawful soul that he is and knowing the chaos that tearing down the wall would bring, he couldn't bring himself to discard his responsibility in favor of his beliefs. He knows very well how it feels to discard everything you believe in for the sake of preserving the natural order of creation, no matter how terrible it may seem.
